Local manufacturers get together for Wiffle ball tournament in Jefferson Township
Laura J. Doerr Memorial Park in Jefferson Township hosted the first Hard Hats and Home Runs wiffle ball tournament on Wednesday, July 29, featuring teams representing Butler County manufacturing companies.
Luxfer MEL Technologies, a company based in Clinton Township, hosted the tournament and brought two teams. Other local manufacturers sending a team to the tournament included Coherent, also based in Clinton Township, and Oberg Industries, based in Buffalo Township. The Butler County Manufacturing Consortium provided additional support.
“It was incredibly rewarding to see so many people come together outside of the workplace to enjoy some friendly competition,” wrote Luxfer human resources manager Danielle Hixon, who organized the tournament.
According to Hixon, Luxfer brought two teams because so many employees signed up.
When the dust settled, the Oberg Industries team took home the trophy.
“Rumor has it (the Oberg team) skipped lunch and went straight to practicing,” Luxfer wrote on their Facebook page after the tournament. “I’d say the preparation paid off.”
