Commissioner displays Flight 93-inspired painting

“Rest Assured” by Butler artist Willie Hobbs is on display in Butler County Commissioner Dale Pinkerton’s office.

An original commemorative painting called "Rest Assured" by Butler resident Willie Hobbs is on display in Butler County Commissioner Dale Pinkerton's office in the county government building, 124 W. Diamond St. It will remain there until about 2011.

The painting depicts hands holding an eagle flying out of Pennsylvania with a slightly burned American flag in its talons. It commemorates the crash of United Flight 93 in Somerset County on Sept. 11, 2001.

Prints of the painting cost $20, of which 15 percent will be donated to the Flight 93 National Memorial Campaign. Other items featuring the painting, including mugs and T-shirts, are available with part of the proceeds going to the memorial fund.

Visit the Web site, www.restassuredart.com.

Hobbs is in the process of mailing a copy of the print to each family of Flight 93. The prints were donated by Bill Long of the Sir Speedy Copy Center on Main Street.
