Butler Little Theatre, One Howard St., will host author Randall Silvas reading passages and signing his book "In a Town Called Mundomuerto" from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday. Silvas is the author 13 books including "On Night's Shore" and "Disquiet Heart" and has had his plays and screenplays produced. Refreshments will be served. Admission is $5 at the door, or $3 for students with ID. With the purchase of a book, admission is free. Call 724-287-6781.

Comtra Theatre, Route 19 in Cranberry Township, is staging the musical "Once Upon a Mattress" through Saturday at the theater on Route 19. The next show will be "Mousetrap" running Oct. 24 to Nov. 8. Curtain is at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.Admission is $12 for plays and $15 for musicals. Box office opens at 6:45 p.m. the day of the show. Call 724-773-9896.

<B>Pittsburgh International Children's Theater</B> will host Theatreworks USA production "If You Give a Pig a Pancake and Other Story Books" Sunday through Oct. 27 at five locations throughout the Greater Pittsburgh area. The 50-minute musical is based on a number of favorite children's books.The performance locations include: Sunday at 2 p.m. at Gateway High School; Oct. 23 at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. at Marshall Middle School; Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. at Moon High School; Oct. 25 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Mount Lebanon High School; and Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. at the Byham Theater.
