PITTSBURGH — The Silver Eye Center for Photography is exhibiting "Eloquent Eggs and Disintegrating Dice: Photographs by Rosamond Purcell" through Nov. 29 at the center, 1015 E. Carson St.

The show features more than 40 color prints of patterns of eggshells, the strategy of nest building and the texture of plumage. Purcell photographed the eggs, nests and birds at the Western Foundation of Vertebrate Zoology in Camarillo, Calif.

Also on view are photographs of decomposing celluloid dice from the collection of magician and actor Ricky Jay.

Purcell has photographed natural history and anatomical collections for many years. She has several published books, and her work is included in the collections of The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; and the National Academy of Sciences, Washington, D.C., among others.

Silver Eye Center, with more than 500 members nationally, is dedicated to photography as an art form and as an expressive form of visual communication.

Gallery hours are noon to 6 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. or by appointment on Saturdays.
