GROVE CITY — Grove City College received the Business of the Year award Wednesday from the Grove City Chamber of Commerce. It was one of five businesses or people who were honored by the Chamber.

The award recognizes the college, one of the area’s largest employers and an integral part of the business community, for “significant contributions to the community, including a large contribution to the Guthrie Theatre to help purchase a digital projector enabling the Guthrie to continue to operate.”

The college contributed $30,000 to the downtown theater’s campaign to upgrade to a digital projector to keep up with technological changes in the film industry and essential to the theater’s ability to continue to offer first-run movies.

The college “is very generous with many nonprofits and organizations in the community,” the Chamber noted in its nomination.

Other honorees are:

• Gould Financial Services, which received the Silver Spruce Award for building improvements

• Broad Street Grille, which received the Best Marketing Effort of the Year Award

• Mike Johnson, who received the Emerging Leader of the Year Award

• Nancy Iandimarino who received the Business Leader of the Year Award.
