Wilson pitches well, but Bucs struggle in Milwaukee
MILWAUKEE — Newly acquired right-hander Bryse Wilson allowed one run in five innings Monday night, but the Pittsburgh Pirates trailed Milwaukee 6-0 late at Miller Park.
The game ended too late for press time.
Wilson surrendered only two hits, the Brewers scoring their first run on a sacrifice fly by Kolten Wong. Milwaukee’s Eric Lauer tossed a scoreless five innings, striking out three.
Eduardo Escobar’s RBI triple highlighted a two-run sixth for the Brewers. He added a three-run homer in the seventh against Nick Mears.
John Nogowski had a double for the Pirates.
The two teams play the second game of the series at 8:10 p.m. Tuesday.
