GIBSONIA, Allegheny County — The St. Barnabas Health System announced Wednesday that it has acquired Beaver Meadows, an 83-bed assisted living personal care home in Beaver County.

The long-term care facility is an alternative for seniors who need more assistance than is available in a retirement community, but who do not require the intensive medical and nursing care provided in a nursing facility.

Beaver Meadows at 5130 Tuscarawas Road is about 25 miles from the main St. Barnabas Campus in Gibsonia.

“We're excited about this opportunity,” said William Day, St. Barnabas Health System president and CEO. “The acquisition of this well-kept and well-run living assistance facility allows St. Barnabas to expand its mission into nearby Beaver County.”

Beaver Meadows was founded in 2002 by Help A Person. The acquisition of the personal care home and its 10 acres took place Wednesday through a transfer of control to St. Barnabas Clinical Services, a subsidiary of St. Barnabas Health System.

“We plan no major changes at Beaver Meadows,” said John Curran, chairman of St. Barnabas Health System, in a release. “Beaver Meadows has exceptional employees, many of whom have 10 or more years of service. We are excited to join them in this new adventure.”

St. Barnabas Clinical Services already operates three living assistance facilities, housing nearly 200 residents in Allegheny and Butler counties, under the name of The Arbors. Beaver Meadows will become the fourth Arbors at St. Barnabas.
