Winter light show sparkles at Adams community park
ADAMS TWP — There might not be any snow to glisten — at the moment — but Adams Township Community Park is ready to sparkle.
With so many seasonal plans and festivals canceled, township leaders have spent the last few weeks organizing an event that will light up the holiday season for locals.
The public is invited to enjoy a winter light show, constructed in the park in a contactless fashion, starting at dusk from now through Jan. 15.
The event isn't for lights and animations alone.
Before driving through the park with their families, children are welcome to drop off letters to Santa in a red mailbox situated outside the township building.
Visitors are also encouraged to bring nonperishable food to donate to the Lighthouse Foundation. Donations can be left in collection boxes near the township building's front entrance.
Visit from Santa
Township officials expect Santa to make an appearance Dec. 20 at the municipal building.
To limit COVID-19 exposure, those wishing to see Santa are asked to drive by the township building between 6 and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 20 to wave at the jolly old elf. The event will be contactless.
A fireworks display is planned following Santa's appearance. Residents and visitors are asked to stay in their vehicles to watch the show, which will start at 7:30 p.m.
Santa on the road
In a separate event, Santa is touring several municipalities Dec. 18 and 19 along with local municipal and emergency vehicles.
Communities expected to be part of the tour are Adams and Middlesex townships, and Mars, Callery, Valencia and Seven Fields boroughs.
Details are posted on the Adams Township website and Adams Township Parks and Recreation Facebook page.
