Flammable items near space heater cited in fire

PITTSBURGH — Authorities say flammable items that were too close to a space heater could have started an early morning fire that killed a woman.

Pittsburgh public safety officials cited the possible cause Monday in the blaze that killed 73-year-old Rose Pressley on Friday.

Security guard killed in shooting at bar

PITTSBURGH — A security guard was shot and killed at a Pittsburgh bar, and police are questioning a suspect.

The shooting happened just after midnight Tuesday at the Rendezvous Phase III bar on Hamilton Avenue in the Homewood neighborhood.

Police found a male security guard with three gunshot wounds and a female security guard with a graze to the arm.
