Emergency personnel respond to fatal crash in Butler Township
Emergency personnel responded to a fatal crash on Pittsburgh Road in Butler Township Sunday evening.
At about 6:50 p.m., Butler County Emergency Services dispatch called for fire and EMS crews to a crash near West Central Equipment. Reports indicated a vehicle fire and possible entrapment.
About five minutes later, a firefighter at the scene reported three to four injuries in the crash and that one of those involved in the crash was dead.
Three medical helicopters were called to the scene. According to dispatch reports, at least one was dispatched from the scene to UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.
By 8 p.m., emergency crews displayed a blue tarp over the crash site and yellow police tape completely blocked off road traffic. As of 8:30 p.m., traffic on Pittsburgh Road was blocked off at West Central Equipment.
By 7:30 p.m., debris was spread out over a wide area of from near the Tesla’s Ramada Inn by Wyndham to West Central Equipment. Butler County Emergency Service dispatch reported a vehicle from the county coroner’s office arrived on scene about five minutes later.
The crash appeared to involve two vehicles, including a white SUV and a gray vehicle, both of which suffered heavy front-end damage and appeared to crash in a “T-bone” position. The airbags in the SUV were fully deployed.
Emergency crews responding include Butler and Butler Township police and fire personnel, as well as the Butler Ambulance Service and STAT MedEvac.
