Allegheny Health has new CEOPITTSBURGH — A Cleveland Clinic executive with more than 30 years’ experience is Allegheny Health Network’s new CEO.Cynthia Hundorfean is replacing John Paul, who helped health insurer Highmark Inc. create the hospital network in 2013.Highmark bought out the former West Penn Allegheny Health Network as has added hospitals to create Allegheny Health, which includes Allegheny General and West Penn hospitals in Pittsburgh.Highmark says the hiring is part of a “planned transition to sustain the next phase of AHN’s progress.”Hundorfean was chief administrative officer at the Cleveland Clinic since 2005, and previously served in a variety of executive positions.

Oprah’s loss helps Weight Watchers NEW YORK — Weight Watchers stock is gaining again, thanks to Oprah Winfrey’s weight loss.The company’s shares soared Tuesday after a new commercial starring Winfrey aired where she says she has lost 26 pounds on the plan.Winfrey bought a 10 percent stake in the weight-loss company in October. The stock is up more than 90 percent since then.Weight Watchers has also made changes to its plans to better fit in with Winfrey’s message of living a healthy and happier life, and not just focusing on weight loss.Shares of New York-based Weight Watchers International Inc. rose almost 20 percent in afternoon trading. But they are still down about 21 percent from a year ago.

Refunds offered for travel to Zika areasTwo major U.S. airlines are offering refunds to passengers worried about the Zika virus outbreak in many tropical countries.United Airlines says customers booked to fly to areas affected by the virus can reschedule or get refunds. American Airlines says it will give refunds to pregnant women who were planning to travel to parts of Central America.The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have warned pregnant women to take precautions against mosquito bites when traveling to areas in Latin America and the Caribbean where there have been Zika outbreaks. The CDC says the mosquito-borne illness could be linked to a birth defect of the brain.The United Airlines offer began Tuesday and includes any country covered by a CDC travel notice, an airline spokesman said. American Airlines began refunds Monday for pregnant passengers holding tickets to El Salvador, Honduras, Panama or Guatemala, according to a spokesman.
