Group files notice to sue coke producerCLAIRTON— A Pennsylvania environmental agency says it plans to sue North America’s largest coke producer over clean air violations.PennFuture announced Thursday that it is taking legal action against U.S. Steel’s Clairton Coke Works.The group says the Clairton plant has violated pollution limits 6,700 times between January 2012 and May 2015.The group has notified local health officials as well as state and federal environmental agencies of its plans to file a citizen suit under the Federal Clean Air Act, the state’s Pollution Control Act and regulations set by the Allegheny County health department.

Ford earnings trigger record profit sharingDETROIT — Ford on Thursday reported a strong fourth-quarter and full-year profit, enough to trigger record $9,300 profit-sharing checks for about 52,700 United Auto Workers members.The automaker reported net income of $1.9 billion in the fourth quarter and $7.4 billion for the year. Revenue was $40.3 billion for the quarter and $149.6 billion for the year.
