Thomas Cavanaugh
Thomas Joseph Cavanaugh, 58, of 548 New Castle Road, Slippery Rock, died at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Grove City Medical Center.
Born May 28, 1952, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of James Earl Cavanaugh and Dolores "Midge" Jean (Kimmins) Cavanaugh.
He was a house manager aide at the Allegheny Valley Schools.
Mr. Cavanaugh had been a helicopter flight engineer in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1974 and had served in Vietnam.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting and his cat.
Thomas was a member of the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Slippery Rock. He was a current member of the Grove City American Legion Post 220 and the Grove City VFW Post 519. He had been a former member and past commander of both the Stanley Snyder Post VFW 7465 and the Richard Craft American Legion.
Surviving are his mother, Dolores "Midge" Cavanaugh of Slippery Rock, and a brother, James E. and his wife, Susan Della, Cavanaugh Jr. of Pittsburgh.
He was preceded in death by his father.
<B>CAVANAUGH</B> — Visitation for Thomas Joseph Cavanaugh, who died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, will be at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Saturday. Interment will be in the Slippery Rock Cemetery.
