Oswald

Edith M. Oswald, 94, formerly of Ellwood City, died Friday at Shelborne Assisted Living in Butler.

She was born May 20, 1916, in Fenelton, a daughter of the late George and Estelle Morgan Lucas.

She was a graduate of Butler High School.

Edith was a homemaker, mother and grandmother and was a member of the St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman. She was a former member of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church in Ellwood City.

She was known to be "quite the cook" and was famous for her rum cake.

Edith was the widow of Gerald A. Oswald, who preceded her in death on April 2, 2009. They were married April 14, 1941.

Surviving are her son, George J. Oswald and his wife, Mary Louise Oswald, of Allison Park; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Beck of Ohio; three grandchildren and their spouses, Gerald J. and Stephanie Oswald of Saxonburg, John J. and Lynn Oswald of Butler, and Debbie and Bernard Bower of Richland Township; and seven great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive her.

Three brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.

<B>OSWALD </B>—<B> </B>Friends of Edith M. Oswald, who died Friday, Oct. 15, 2010, will be received at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman.
