CRANBERRY TWP — The township may get a bouncy business this year.

The township planning commission Tuesday night approved the land development and conditional use applications for an Urban Air indoor trampoline park. It would be a 24,600-square-foot building on 4.4 acres on American Way behind The Streets of Cranberry and visible from Interstate 79.

Urban Air has 15 locations around the United States and has another 15 in development, said John Wambold, one of the partners who is developing the property and will own the franchise. It would be the first site in Western Pennsylvania.

Wambold said the park mainly will target children between the ages of 3 and 17 and will have a wide variety of activities.

It will have six or seven trampoline-based areas, including a dodge ball area, an obstacle course and an area with a foam ball pit children can jump into. “It’s an indoor theme park targeting active kids who want to go out and burn off some steam for an hour,” he said.

It would have 25 to 50 employees.

The proposal will come before the township supervisors in July.

Wambold said that if the project gets approval the owners hope to have construction done by the end of the year.
