Motorcycle driver hurt in morning crash
CHERRY TWP — A motorcycle driver was injured in a crash this morning on Route 308.
The driver, who was not identified, before 7:30 a.m. drove off the road and into a grassy area for about 300 to 400 feet before re-entering the road near Pleasant Valley Road, said West Sunbury Volunteer Fire Department Chief Reid Campbell.
Then, the driver went off his bike and rolled into a ditch.
The driver was wearing a helmet.
Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash. Before the accident, the driver apparently passed a few vehicles.
The driver, who is in his 40s, was transported by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital with back and neck injuries. These injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, Campbell said.
The accident forced responders to close the northbound lane for about an hour.
