Frank Stefanik, 83, of Butler, formerly of North Apollo, passed away Sunday at the home of his son, Frank Thomas Stefanik.

Born Sept. 20, 1927, in Allegheny Township, Westmoreland County, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary (Kupchik) Stefanik.

He worked in the shipping department at Allegheny Ludlum for 40 years, retiring in December 1989.

Frank was a member of the St. James Roman Catholic Church, its Holy Name Society, the Society of St. Vincent De Paul and the Church Council. He was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.

He enjoyed the outdoors, liked hunting, was a member of the National Rifle Association and was active in the Boy Scouts for many years. He enjoyed all sports and was a former area Little League commissioner.

He is survived by his son, Frank Thomas (Cynthia) Stefanik of Butler; daughters, Leila Jean Romanik of Miami Lake, Fla., Elizabeth Ann “Betty” (Steve) Rogers of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Mary Ellen (Mark) Marcotte and Evelyn (David) Addison, both of Newberry, Fla., Roxanne (Marco) Roman of Greencastle, Franklin County, and Maxine Laverne (Rick) McChesney of St. Augustine, Fla. There are also 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Frank also is survived by a brother, John Charles Stefanik of New York; and a sister, Irene Demyan of West Leechburg.

<B>STEFANIK</B> — Visitation for Frank Stefanik, who died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010, will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the <B>CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in the St. James Roman Catholic Church, Apollo, with Father John Euker as celebrant.
