Jean L. Burnett

Mrs. Jean Louise Gray Burnett of Yalaha, Fla., passed away Sunday at age 93.

She was born in Culmerville, Allegheny County, and grew up in Mars.

Jean married George H. Burnett of Zelienople on Feb. 9, 1940. She and George moved to Lakeland, Fla., from Pennsylvania in 1952 and to Dade City, Fla., in 1966. In 1982, they moved to Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., and finally to Yalaha in 1988.

Jean was a retired registered nurse and a member of the Florida Nurses Association. She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Pennsylvania and Florida and the Howey-in-the-Hills Garden Club.

Jean was an avid gardener and loved oil painting and reading, but her passion in life was her husband, George, who passed away in 2002 after 62 years of marriage, her family, her church and personal Bible study.

She was an active member of Community Church in Howey.

She is remembered by her daughters, Mary Ellen Burnett of Yalaha, Fla., and Jan Burnett Jones and her husband, David Russell Jones, of Dade City, Fla.; a sister, Dorothy L. Stone of Wexford; as well as two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

<B>Burnett </B>— Friends of Jean Louise Gray Burnett, who died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, are invited to gather for viewing Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at <B>Steverson, Hamlin & Hilbish Funerals and Cremations</B>, Tavares, Fla., 352-343-4444. A funeral ceremony will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Community Church in Howey-in-the-Hills.
