Ziccardi

Joseph P. Ziccardi, 88, a 27-year resident of College Avenue, Grove City, died at 11:05 p.m. Tuesday at the Grove City Medical Center following a brief illness.

Born in Stoneboro, Mercer County, Sept. 20, 1922, he was the son of Thomas P. Ziccardi and Eleanora Coppolella Ziccardi.

He married Phyllis Isacco on June 10, 1944, and she died Nov. 30, 1977. He then married Joan Brophy Stephenson on July 22, 1983.

Joe retired from the General Electric Corp. of Grove City in 1985 and formerly was employed by Wendell August Forge, Grove City, for 30 years.

He was a member of the Church of the Beloved Disciple, Grove City.

He was a graduate of Grove City High School, Class of 1940, and served on the USS Portland with the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Joe enjoyed people, hunting, fishing and bowling.

Surviving are his wife, Joan at home; two sons, Dennis T. Ziccardi and his wife, Amanda, of Mercer and David P. Ziccardi and his wife, Diane, of North East, Erie County; three stepchildren, Dean Stephenson and Darlene Fisher and her husband, Wayne, all of Illinois, and Scott Stephenson and his wife, Elizabeth, of State College; four grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, and his first wife, Phyllis Ziccardi, he was preceded in death by seven sisters, Mary Baker, Lena West, Amelia Todarello, Eleanor Downing, Edith Ferro, Phyllis Chiappini and Nancy Rossi.

<B>ZICCARDI</B> — A Mass of Christian burial for Joseph P. Ziccardi, who died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Church of the Beloved Disciple, 1310 S. Center St., Ext., Grove City, with the Rev. Father Mark Hoffman as celebrant. Visitation will be at the <B>Cunningham Funeral Home</B>, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City, Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be at Crestview Memorial Park, Grove City.
