MIDDLESEX TWP — The proposed Amber Grove townhome complex received final land development approval from the board of supervisors during its monthly meeting on Wednesday, July 15.

The development is planned to consist of 89 townhouse units on a 19.8-acre parcel along Route 228 near the Weatherburn Drive intersection. According to Butler County property records, the developers originally purchased the land from the De La Torre family in August 2020 for $275,000.

Amber Grove was initially pitched to Middlesex Township as a combination residential/retail development, consisting of 52 townhomes and two commercial buildings. While those plans were approved by supervisors, logistical concerns regarding access roads in the initial plan led to a legal dispute with an adjacent planned residential community, Sienna Village.

Along with changes to Middlesex Township’s code, the two issues combined to cause Amber Grove developers to toss out the initial plans and submit a revised plan consisting entirely of townhomes.

The township’s planning commission granted its final approval for the project during its most recent meeting June 24.
