Saxonburg church to be highlighted at this week’s Mingle on Main
The shared legacy of a Saxonburg church, built on land given by the man whose cables still hold up a great city, will be a highlight of the borough’s Thursday, July 16, Mingle on Main.
Local storyteller Elva Weston will share narratives of the borough’s beginning and founder John Roebling, who donated the land where St. Luke’s Lutheran Church stands at 310 W. Main St. in Saxonburg.
Presentations will take place at 6 and 7 p.m. in St. Luke’s sanctuary. The church’s 157-year-old history will be told through stained-glass windows and audience participation. Before people could read, church windows were used to visually communicate biblical stories to worshippers.
The church will also be open from 6 to 8 p.m. for restroom and water hospitality, according to an email from the church.
