Ruth L. Rodgers
Ruth L. Rodgers, 95, of Zelienople, formerly of Meadville, died Monday at the Passavant Retirement Community, Zelienople.
Born Jan. 9, 1916, in Cooperstown, she was the daughter of Philo and Fannie Kitelinger Williams.
Mrs. Rodgers grew up on a small farm, where she enjoyed hunting and fishing, helping her parents raise chickens, canning vegetables and caring for the other animals.
When she was 5 years old, she began playing the piano, all by ear, without music and had perfect pitch and perfect timing. She also played the accordion and the organ for several country bands.
During World War II, she assisted the war effort by working at the Greenville Steel Car Co. as a riveter and welder.
Mrs. Rodgers had a zest for life and a great sense of humor.
She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn G. Flint and her husband, Willie, of Evans City; two grandchildren, Marsha Frantz of Jamestown and Kevin (Lilliana) Finch of New Jersey; four step-grandchildren, Bonnie Ritzert of Connoquenessing, Audrey Oleastro of Ellwood City, Daniel Flint of Renfrew and Darrel Flint of St. Petersburg, Fla.; three great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-great-grandchildren. She also raised three foster children, Butch, Bill and Phyllis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Rodgers, who died April 14, 1979, eight brothers; two sisters, and two step-great-great-grandchildren.

Grandview Ave., Zelienople, where funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. with the Rev. John J. Hoogerbrugge, officiating.
