Butler man charged with exposing himself at public pool
A 66-year-old Butler man is accused of exposing himself in front of multiple children at a public pool in Slippery Rock Township.
Richard Edward Weiland was charged Friday, July 10, with one misdemeanor count each of indecent exposure, open lewdness and disorderly conduct following an incident Thursday at the pool at ARMCO Park.
Police said they spoke with three adults and multiple children at the park who said they witnessed Weiland expose and stroke himself for 30 to 40 minutes while facing the pool side. Police said he was exposed to multiple children under 16 years old.
When police spoke to Weiland, he said he exposed himself on three different occasions for a total of 15 minutes because he was “itchy.”
Weiland is being held in Butler County Prison on $30,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday before District Judge Joseph Nash.
