Chicora to replace water lines starting July 13

Aging water lines in four locations in Chicora are set to be replaced starting Monday, July 13.

According to a social media post, the borough contracted Mealy Excavation and Construction to install new water lines. Work is expected to carry on through the summer months, the post read.

Lines will be replaced on Green Street from Water to Kittanning streets; Kittanning Street from Green Street to the borough line; East Slippery Rock Street from Green Street to the borough line; Legion Alley from Central Avenue to West Slippery Rock Street, as well as from Landmark Alley to Route 68.

Borough and Mealy employees will be providing notification to residents in the area for scheduled outages during the process. The post reminded residents that emergency water outages may occur due to lines being struck during excavation.

The post said the project will improve water quality and make emergency outages less frequent in the area.
