Francis ‘Bud’ Convery

Francis J. “Bud” Convery, 95, of Butler, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, July 6, 2026, at the Sergeant Joseph George Kusick VA Community Living Center.

Born in Butler on Aug. 4, 1930, he was the son of the late John L. Convery and Viola L. Green Convery.

At the age of 16, Bud became the youngest licensed barber in Pennsylvania. He worked as a barber with his father until he was hired at Butler Armco, where he spent his career as a millwright.

A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, he served as a medic in the Korean War.

He was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Peter Roman Catholic Church. He belonged to the Oneida Bow Hunters, where he was past president, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 64, of Butler, American Legion Post 778, of Butler, VFW Post 249, of Butler, and VFW Post 9226, of Ellenton, Fla.

Bud is survived by three children, Sue Draper, of Butler, David Convery and his wife, Mame, of Butler, and Cathy Dreher and her husband, Byron, of Butler; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis G. Clark Convery, who passed away Jan. 9, 2004; his second wife, Donna F. Brueckner Kumpfmiller Convery, who passed away Oct. 27, 2015; one daughter, Roxanne Wehr, who passed away Feb. 14, 2012; two grandchildren, Thomas Dreher, who passed away Jan. 22, 1994, and Neil Convery, who passed away April 28, 2020; and three sisters, Sister Germaine Convery, OSF, Ruth Masters and Viola “Connie” Maletta.

CONVERY — There will be no visitation for Francis J. “Bud” Convery, who died Monday, July 6, 2026.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, July 13, at All Saints Parish, St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St., Butler, with the Rev. John J. Baver officiating.

Military honors will be accorded at the church by American Legion Post 778, VFW Post 249 and VFW Post 499.

Burial will take place in St. Michael’s Cemetery.

Arrangements were entrusted to the care of MARTIN FUNERAL HOME SOUTH SIDE, 429 Center Ave., Butler.
