Ruth Genevieve Reichert Hoenig, 90, of Portersville, Scott Township, Lawrence County, died at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Grove City Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born in Worth Township, Nov. 2, 1918, she was the daughter of Mary Rose Rice Reichert and Albert Alvin Reichert.

She married Edward L. Hoenig on April 23, 1954. He died Oct. 28, 1990.

Mrs. Hoenig was a member of the Plain Grove Presbyterian Church, where she played piano and taught Sunday school.

Early in her career, she worked at the Butler County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Office in Butler. She, along with her husband, owned and operated a fruit and vegetable farm.

Surviving are a daughter, Diana Hoenig; two sons, John Hoenig and his wife, Alison, and George Hoenig; two sisters, Amy Reichert Stitt and Mary Reichert Gilliland; four grandchildren, Jessica and her husband, Brandon, and Leslie, Rachel and Christopher.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Rice Reichert; and two sisters Margaret Reichert Lindey and Arlene Reichert Cosgrove.

<B>HOENIG </B>— Visitation for Ruth Genevieve Reichert Hoenig, who died Wednesday, June 17, 2009, will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Herbert Goetz, pastor of the Plain Grove Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be at the Zion Baptist Cemetery, Worth Township.
