David E. Cook Sr., 66, of Butler, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2026.

He was born in Butler on July 22, 1959, son of the late Benjamin and Yvonne (Wynn) Cook.

David graduated from Butler Senior High School in 1977, and furthered his education at Pittsburgh School of Nursing. He honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

David was the co-owner of the restaurant, When Pigs Fly BBQ, in Butler. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, listening to music, riding his e-bike, barbecuing and following the Pittsburgh Steelers. David was a “people person,” he loved helping people in his community in any way he could. He especially enjoyed his outreach to veterans, neighbors, family and friends through his holiday meals and clothing drives.

David was the beloved husband of Lisa (Benson) Cook, whom he married 28 years ago; father of David Jr. and LaRae Cook and Christian Evans; stepfather of Lucas Benson; brother of Yvette Alston and Sharon (Steven) Pope; and grandfather of three. He is also survived by a large and loving family.

Along with his parents, David was preceded in death by his siblings, Rodger, Mercia and Alan.

COOK — Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 5-6 p.m. at SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler. A prayer service will immediately follow in the funeral home.
