Linda Pitzer
Linda J. Pitzer, 73, of Butler, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
She was born Nov. 22, 1952, in New Castle, daughter of the late Donald P. Pitzer and Vivian J. (Johnson) Pitzer.
Linda proudly served her country, her church and her family throughout a life marked by faith, dedication and service.
A graduate of Butler High School, Linda enlisted in the U.S. Army and served honorably until her retirement in 1995, with the rank of chief warrant officer four (CW4). From 1970 to 1978, she served in the Women’s Army Corps (WAC). During her distinguished military career, she held positions including punched card machine operator and automatic data processing technician.
Linda completed basic training at Fort McClellan, in Alabama, and attended military schooling at Fort Benjamin Harrison, in Indiana. Her service took her around the world, including three tours in Germany with V Corps in Frankfurt, the 8th Infantry Division in Bad Kreuznach and the 1st Infantry Division’s 299th Support Battalion in Göppingen. She also served in several assignments in the Washington, D.C., area, including Fort Myer, Virginia; Fort Meade, Maryland; Fort Belvoir, Virginia; the White House Communications Agency; and Fort McPherson, Georgia.
A devoted Christian, Linda was a faithful member of Bright Hope Community Church. She dedicated countless hours to serving her church family as a Sunday school teacher, Children’s Church teacher, nursery worker, Vacation Bible School volunteer, member of the security team, Christian education team, child protection team, child protection monitor and worship team.
Linda enjoyed music and creating latch hook rugs. She was known for her strong work ethic and continued serving others through her civilian career, including at USIS and NT Concepts, where she worked in support of national security efforts, and most recently at Butler County Bureau of Elections.
Above all, Linda cherished her family and friends. Her love, faith, service and commitment to others will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by sister, Alison (Ralph) Niederlander; brothers, Robin Pitzer, Kevin (Nancy) Pitzer, Scott (Mary) Pitzer and Bradley (Amy) Pitzer; and nieces and nephews, Jessalyn (Jason) Powell, Wesley (Sarah) Pitzer, Aaron (Christina) Pitzer, Chris (Kaylee) Pitzer, Tarah (Adam) Christie, Andrew Niederlander, Jessica Niederlander and Matthew (Jennifer) Niederlander.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents.
PITZER — A visitation for Linda J. Pitzer, who died Tuesday, June 23, 2026, will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 26, at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 27, at Bright Hope Community Church, 4101 Highland Ave., Butler, with Pastor Chris McGrady officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bright Hope Community Church at 4101 Highland Ave., Butler, PA 16001.
