Thanks to bike blessing organizers

As a volunteer who helps with the annual Butler Bike Blessing, held May 9, at the Lyndora American Legion Post 778, I want to add some more information that wasn’t covered in the May 11 Butler Eagle article (“Motorcyclists honor fallen brothers,” Page 1).

The founder, Warren Mitchell, his team and Pastor Lance Stoddard have been organizing this event for the past 5 years. It is a joint effort with HonorBound Motorcycle Ministries organizing the event and the American Legion post providing the facility.

It’s also important to note this event welcomes all riders, individuals or group riders, from all over Butler County.

Over the past 5 years, this annual event has grown from 75 attendees, increasing to 300 attendees.

It starts with coffee, doughnuts and social time. The event opened with a prayer and welcoming message from Mitchell, referencing several Bible verses from the word of God.

That was followed by a brief sermon from Pastor Stoddard, of HonorBound Motorcycle Ministry, which included words from the gospel, a memorializing message for the families and riders who have been lost due to accidents. He also includes reminders of the importance of brotherhood and specifically covers a prayer for safety in the upcoming riders season. Riders may have their bikes blessed individually, and a Communion service is offered.

There is music throughout the service and it ends with more social time and lunch served by the Lyndora post’s auxiliary ladies.

Thanks to all who’ve attended, and save the date for next year, May 8, 2027!

Nancy Daw,

Butler Township
