The Slippery Rock University volleyball team opened PSAC competition with a 3-0 victory over West Chester 25-17, 25-15, 25-16.

Kaylee Smith and Sarah Cadwallader led SRU (11-0, 1-0) with 14 and eight kills, respectively.

Kristy Lake and Hayley Wilson added seven and five kills, respectively

SoccerBreanna Robinson accounted for the game’s only goal — in the 83rd minute — to give the California (Pa.) women a 1-0 victory over The Rock.Butler graduate Lisa Rodgers finished the game with a season-high nine saves for SRU. The men’s team also fell to the Vulcans, 1-0.

Cross CountryTravis Arrigoni placed third and Alex Koksal fourth to help the SRU men place second at the Mack Cooper Classic at Cooper’s Lake, three points behind champion Carnegie Mellon.On the women’s side, Stephanie Case placed fifth for The Rock.

Field HockeySixth-ranked Millersville was able to hold off a pesky SRU (1-5) squad, scoring a goal in each half in a 2-0 victory.
