Following an administrative hearing Tuesday, a Butler County assistant district attorney was fired from his position.

District Attorney Richard Goldinger reported that Assistant District Attorney Richard Bosco was formally removed from his position after being placed on suspension Friday.

An administrative hearing's purpose is to give public employees a chance to address grievances before termination or employment discipline.

Goldinger said Bosco did not appear for the hearing and “thus effective immediately, he is no longer employed by the County of Butler.”

Goldinger declined to discuss the reasoning behind the suspension and termination, saying, “it is my policy to not comment on disciplinary matters within my office.”

“I will have no comment on the reasons for this personnel action,” Goldinger said, however, adding that it was a “totality of circumstance.”

Bosco had worked in the district attorney's office since 2009.

“I want to thank Mr. Bosco for his almost 10 years of service to the Butler County District Attorney's Office and wish him only the best,” Goldinger said.

Bosco's caseload has been divided among the remaining ADAs in the office, Goldinger previously said. That includes the prosecution of Joshua K. Greaves, 35, who is charged with homicide and robbery-related counts in the death of Gregory W. Bosko, 55, of Kittanning. Police allege Greaves slashed Bosko's throat in March during a drug deal in Lyndora.

Bosco could not be reached for comment.
