Surrounded by prayer, Peter A. Zanicky, 74, of Butler, peacefully passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 9, 2026.

Born June 16, 1951, in Stockton, Calif., he was a son of the late Peter Zanicky and Shirley Rishwain Zanicky.

Pete was employed for 25 years as a custodian for the Butler Area School District.

He was a member of St. Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church in Lyndora.

Pete was a regular fixture at Eat’n Park, where he had breakfast every morning. In his younger days, he was an avid basketball player, and he enjoyed helping out at the pancake breakfast at St. Conrad Church on Sunday mornings and at the annual bake sale at St. Michael Church.

He is survived by four siblings, all of Butler: Stephen Zanicky and his wife, Kathy, Mary Leitem and her husband, Mark, Joyce Brough and her husband, John, and John Zanicky and his wife, Roxann; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents.

ZANICKY — There will be no visitation for Peter A. Zanicky, who died Tuesday, June 9, 2026.

A funeral liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 11, at St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church, 610 Hansen Ave., Lyndora, with Monsignor Douglas J. Lorance officiating.

Burial will take place in Butler County Memorial Park.

Arrangements were entrusted to the care of MARTIN FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.
