BlueSox, Sliders suffer road losses

The Richmond River Rats posted four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning — capped by a Ryan Skellie home run — to edge the Butler BlueSox 9-8 in Prospect League action Tuesday.

Matt Berezo had three RBI for the Blue Sox (3-2), including a game-tying two-run single in the top of the seventh inning.

Butler tacked on three more runs in the eighth inning before the River Rats (3-2) pulled out the last-inning heroics.

Brian Lares and Shayne Houck each had two hits and scored a run for the BlueSox, who play again at Richmond today.

• Chillicothe (Ohio) put up 12 hits en route to a 10-0 victory over the Slippery Rock Sliders, who dropped their third consecutive contest after opening the season at 2-0.

Michael Durham had a double to lead the Sliders, who had just four hits off three Paints pitchers.

B. Suerdick had a double and home run to pace Chillicothe (2-3).
