State police, Armstrong County DA investigating Armstrong School District
State police and the Armstrong County district attorney are investigating rumors of “inappropriate relationships between students and staff,” according to state police and the Armstrong School District.
State police in Kittanning are investigating an anonymous tip involving allegations of “alleged misconduct between“staff members and former students of Armstrong High School,” Armstrong County District Attorney Katie Charlton said in a Tuesday, June 2, statement.
“All allegations regarding a school district are taken very seriously by law enforcement and thoroughly investigated, as the safety of our children is of the highest priority,” she said. “This remains an active investigation and no further comment can be made at this time.”
No arrests had been made or charges filed as of Tuesday afternoon.
“PSP was not involved in removing anyone from school grounds,” according to Troop D public information officer Bertha Cazy.
The district said it is aware of the rumors but cannot comment on confidential personnel matters.
“The district has zero tolerance for any conduct that compromises student safety or well-being and cooperates fully with our local and state law enforcement partners on any matter related to the safety of students and staff,” said Danielle Panchik, communication coordinator for Armstrong School District.
