Evans City man accused of threatening caseworker with knife, imprisoning her

An Evans City man is accused of threatening a caseworker with a knife and holding her captive in his home on Tuesday, May 26.

Justin Michael Eppinger, 33, allegedly waved around kitchen knives to scare his caseworker before then grabbing her by the neck and poking her in the stomach with one of the knives, police said in an affidavit.

Evans City police said they responded to an apartment on Main Street for reports of a disturbance. Police found Eppinger in the apartment with his caseworker.

Eppinger told police he took his caseworker’s phone because he was mad at her and trying to extend the session. In addition to the incident with the knives, Eppinger also pulled the caseworker’s hair and made sexual comments toward her, police said.

According to the affidavit, Eppinger has “done this” with other caseworkers in the past.

He was charged Tuesday with felony aggravated assault, two misdemeanor counts of simple assault and one misdemeanor count each of false imprisonment, terroristic threats and disorderly conduct related to the incident.

Eppinger’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. June 3 before District Judge Amy Marcinkiewicz. He’s being held in Butler County Prison on a $50,000 bail.
