Walter Edward “Eddie” Mullenax

Walter Edward “Eddie” Mullenax, 93, of Cranberry Township passed away unexpectedly with his wife, Lucille Mae Mullenax, Friday in the comfort of their home that Eddie built with his own hands.

Eddie was born Sept. 18, 1922, in Crab Bottom, Va., the son of the late Walter and Rosa (Baker) Mullenax.

Episcopalian by faith, Eddie honorably served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

A jack-of-all-trades, he was most well known in Cranberry for his skills as an auto mechanic. He retired from Jones & Laughlin Steel as a boiler attendant.

In his free time, he was an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveling in his RV. He will be remembered as a trickster, who liked to play practical jokes, but also who greatly enjoyed socializing and being with people who enjoyed his company dearly. He was a very kind man, who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Ellen Rape and her husband, Bruce, of St. Joseph, Ill.; his granddaughter, Lindsay Yates and her husband, Chris, of Long Beach, Calif; his great-granddaughter, Julia Yates; his sister, Bessie (the late Joe) Todor of Zelienople; and many nieces and nephews.

Eddie entered into heaven with his beloved wife of 68 years, Lucille Mae Mullenax, who he married Jan. 4, 1947.

He was preceded in death by his son, Edward Raymond Mullenax; two daughters, Deborah Ann Mullenax and Vicky Lynn Mullenax; and 11 brothers and sisters.
