No injuries in Cranberry fire

Multiple fire crews responded to a structure fire Wednesday night at 106 Hazelwood Drive in Cranberry Township.

CRANBERRY TWP — Multiple fire departments were called to a structure fire around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

“We had heavy fire on the back of the residence,” said Cranberry Fire Capt. Michael Hanks.

Those arriving first at the scene saw flames on the porch and two vehicles behind the house.

One vehicle sat under the raised porch, like a carport, while the other vehicle sat next to the porch, according to Hanks.

Hanks said the homeowners had already evacuated safely without injury, allowing fire crews to immediately address the fire on arrival.

“They stretched the line and had the water running right away,” he said. “We had a really good knockdown.”

Hanks said the first attack line went to the back of the house to address the flaming porch, while a second went in through the front door.According to Hanks, the fire extended into a portion of the basement, but did not reach the first, second or roof levels. He said the damage on the interior of the house was likely due to smoke.Hanks said the house was salvageable, and no firefighters were injured in the blaze.Firefighters were still spreading salt on the watered-down road around 8 p.m. before leaving the scene.
