Man jailed in domestic dispute
A Butler man is accused of jumping on the hood of his girlfriend’s car, gun in hand, during a Monday night domestic dispute, authorities said.
A little later, city police arrested 25-year-old Mitchel P. Kiser, but he didn’t make it easy on officers.
Police said the suspect ran away after officers spotted him. Police said he then hid under a home’s porch on Boyd Drive. Officers caught up to Kiser and pulled him from his hiding spot.
District Judge Sue Haggerty on Tuesday arraigned the suspect on charges of resisting arrest, simple assault, loitering and prowling at night, and public drunkenness.
He remains in the Butler County Prison on $30,000 bail. He also is being held on a probation violation.
The arrest came after police were called just before midnight for a report of a man and woman fighting at Kiser’s home in the 1100 block of West New Castle Street.
That altercation followed the couple’s clash a short time earlier at a convenience store on Hansen Avenue, according to court documents.
Kiser’s girlfriend, Lyndsy Day, told police that the defendant was driving her home from a bar when he stopped at the store. The two had been arguing and she decided to walk back to the suspect’s home where her car was parked.
But when she tried to leave, police said, he grabbed her arm and tried to get her back into his pickup truck.
Two of Day’s friends intervened and managed to get the woman away from Kiser and drove her to his home. The defendant followed in his truck, documents said.
Day got into her car and tried to drive away but Kiser “jumped onto the hood of her vehicle while holding a handgun,” according to a police affidavit.
The suspect fell off the hood and Day drove away, unharmed.
Soon after, police got to the suspect’s home. Kiser took off running through neighbors’ yards before he was eventually nabbed.
