James Moren
James Lloyd Moren, born Aug. 4, 1930, to John Wesley and Millie Jane (Wilson) Moren in Wellsburg, W.Va., passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, May 17, 2026.
James was more lovingly referred to as Jim. He was Dad to his four daughters, to his mother he was Jimmy, and friend to many others. However, to his 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, he was known as Gramps, Big PaPa, or Papap. Each of these were the biggest prides of his life.
He was the last remaining of six siblings. Jim is survived by his four daughters and their families, Millie (Alfred) Martsolf, Elsie (Steve) Gass, Roberta “Bobbi” (Les) Taylor and Jamie (Chris) Wagner.
He proudly wore the army uniform, but loved God and his family above all things. He was a member of the Methodist church growing up and won his perfect attendance pins 13 years in a row.
Family reunions were one of his passion projects, where he would manage to bring everyone together again with love and laughter. Jim was the only choice you would want to put on a Santa suit and share the Christmas season. It was a tie who enjoyed it the most; the children who got to share the candy canes and HoHoHo’s, or Jim.
He spent many hours throughout the years in volunteer work as well. On a Sunday or a Monday night, you would find him with his grandchildren and other family enjoying his favorite “Black and Gold” team, the Steelers. He loved the crack of bowling pins and won many bowling awards over the years with the Elks and Church of the Nazarene leagues.
He was one of the hardest workers you would ever know, retiring four times. Among his jobs were a laborer in the construction field, and owning a family restaurant, where the regulars came for the food but came back for the kind owner. Finally, he became everybody’s favorite pizza delivery man. He loved to laugh, was quick with the wit and enjoyed a good board or dice game. Life was sometimes hard, but filled with lots of fun. It was the many lessons learned that made him one of the gentlest souls you would ever meet. He wasn't much of a hugger, but you always knew he loved you.
It was a life well-lived and he will be missed. Till we meet again!
