Donald Slomer Sr.

Donald James Slomer Sr., passed away Friday, May 8, 2026, in Butler.

Born Nov. 27, 1964, in Butler, Don lived a life rooted in his hometown and filled with dedication to his craft and family.

A proud graduate of Knoch High School in Saxonburg, Class of 1982, Don pursued a career that showcased his technical expertise and passion for mechanics. As a certified small engine repair technician, he began his career servicing airplanes at Butler-Graham Airport. His skills and commitment eventually led him to work on life flight helicopters in Pittsburgh, where he contributed to the maintenance of critical emergency medical services.

Don is survived by his sons, Donald James Slomer and Jakob D. Slomer; his brother, Robert A. Slomer; and his sisters, Sherri (Bob) Halahurich, Merrie (Owen) Barnes and Carole (Rick) Romar.

He was predeceased by his son, Zachary Robert Slomer; and his parents, Robert and Donna (Ralston) Slomer.
