BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68, will have a Maundy Thursday service with communion at 7 p.m.

Easter sunrise services will be at 6:30 a.m., Sunday school at 9:45 a.m., and morning worship will be at 10:45 a.m. There will be no evening service.

CHRIST COMMUNITY U.M.

The prayer vigil will begin immediately following the 7:30 p.m. Maundy Thursday service at Christ Community Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road. A sign-up sheet is in the narthex.

Good Friday service will be at 7:30 p.m.

There will be no youth group on Easter Sunday.

COMMUNITY ALLIANCE

Community Alliance Church, 800 Mercer Road, will have a 7 p.m. Good Friday service and communion.

COMMUNITY LIFE CHURCH

Community Life Church meets at McQuistion Elementary School.

The Kidz Great Eggaventure will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in upper Alameda Park. There will be a small petting zoo, the Easter Bunny, face painting, bake sale, candy and more than 14,000 eggs.

COVENANT PRESBY

The Maundy Thursday service will be at 8 p.m. today at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St. The service will include Holy Communion and the Ancient Order of Tenebrae service. It is based on the ancient tradition of extinguishing candles one by one until the worshipping congregation sits in total darkness in anticipation of Good Friday.

A joint Good Friday worship service with other area Presbyterian churches will be from noon to 1 p.m. at Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St.

EAST BUTLER PRESBY

East Butler Presbyterian Church, Ninth and Randolph Streets, will have a 7 p.m. joint Good Friday worship service with North Butler Presbyterian. Holy Communion will be served and music will be shared.

There will be a 9:30 a.m. Easter Sunday service with Holy Communion.

North Butler Presbyterian Church, 137 N. Butler Church Road, will have a 7 a.m. Easter sunrise service followed by breakfast. This is a joint event with East Butler Presbyterian. There will be an 11 a.m. Easter Sunday worship service with Holy Communion.

FAITH U.P.

The 7 p.m. Good Friday worship service at Faith United Presbyterian Church, 120 Orchard Drive, will feature the choir, Holy Communion and a choral reading of four voices presenting the Passion story.

Easter Sunday begins with a continental breakfast at 9:15 a.m. in Miller Hall. Easter service will be at 10:30 a.m.

Pastor’s Bible study will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Eat’n Park at Clearview Mall.

FIRST BAPTIST

On Sunday, First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., will have an 8 a.m. prayer service followed by breakfast. Sunday school will begin at 9:45 a.m. and morning worship at 10:55 a.m.

FIRST BAPTIST OF E.C.

The Ladies of First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., are invited to a Bible study today at 7 p.m. at the Dittmer home.

The church will have an all-church game night at 6 p.m. Friday at the Baptist Youth Center. Each family is to take a 2-liter beverage, casserole or dessert to share and a favorite board game.

The Bereans will have a Sunday school class social at 1 p.m. Saturday at the BYC.

Holy Week services at First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., begin at 7:30 p.m. today with Maundy Thursday. Holy Communion will be served.

The Good Friday service of Tenebrae is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Easter services begin with a 7 a.m. sunrise service, followed by the 8:30 and 11 a.m. services. Holy Communion will be served at all Easter services.

The Easter brunch will be between the 8:30 and 11 a.m. services with participants taking a dish to share. No Sunday school is scheduled.

FIRST PRESBYTERIAN OF BAKERSTOWN

The sacrament of the Lord’s Supper will be celebrated at 7:30 p.m. Maundy Thursday at Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St. Music will be performed by a string quartet and chancel choir.

The Great Vigil of Easter will be observed at the 6 p.m. Saturday service.

The 10:30 a.m. Easter Sunday service will feature music by the chancel choir and children’s group. An Easter breakfast will be from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. in the fellowship hall.

The Maundy Thursday service will be at 7:30 p.m. at Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars.

The Good Friday service will be at the Mars United Presbyterian Church at 12:45 p.m. with a noon lunch before the service.

The Easter sunrise service will be at 7:30 a.m. with breakfast following. To help with the breakfast, arrive at 5:30 a.m.

SAINT ANDREWS U.P.

Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St., will remember Christ’s Last Supper with his disciples in a service of communion at 7:30 p.m. today.

Butler Presbyterian churches will hold a community worship service in the sanctuary of Saint Andrews at noon on Good Friday. The service will be led by Butler-area ministers and musicians.

The 7 a.m. Easter Sonrise service with communion will be outdoors at the Pleasant Valley Boat Launch at Moraine State Park. Take a chair.

A traditional Easter service will be at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Music will feature Kyle Golden on the trumpet, the Chancel Choir and the Children’s Chimes. The One Great Hour of Sharing offering will be received.

THE SOWER’S CHAPEL

An Easter sunrise service will be at 6:45 a.m. at the lake across from the Sower’s Chapel, 100 Iron Bridge Road, Sarver. Hot cross buns will be served at the church.

The Easter festival service at 11 a.m. includes flower offerings from the congregation during the first hymn. A children’s outdoor egg hunt follows the service.

St Luke’s Lutheran Church, 310 W. Main St., Saxonburg, will have a Maundy Thursday Love Feast at 6 p.m. in Centennial Hall. Drivers are needed to deliver soup to the home-bound.

A Seder demonstration will begin at 7:15 p.m. today and First Communion will be celebrated during the Maundy Thursday service.

The Good Friday men’s breakfast will be at 6 a.m. The women’s service will be at 9 a.m., and the youth brunch is at 11 a.m. The Good Friday Tenebrae service begins at 7 p.m.

Easter will be celebrated Sunday at both services with music and communion.

Sunday school will celebrate Easter with an egg hunt at 9:30 a.m.

ST. LUKE LUTHERAN CHURCH

Summit Presbyterian Church, 181 Caldwell Drive, will offer a 6 a.m. community men’s breakfast at Saxonburg Memorial Church on Good Friday. A 9 a.m. women’s breakfast will be at Cabot Methodist Church and an 11 a.m. youth brunch will be at the Christian Community Outreach building, 650 Saxonburg Road. There will be a worship service at Summit Church at 7:30 p.m. combined with the members of Jefferson Center Presbyterian Church.

On Saturday, children up through 5th grade are invited to an Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. at the CCO building. The hunt includes a snack, games and story time.

Easter sunrise service will be at 7 a.m. and the worship service will be at 9:15 a.m. This is a time change. There will be no Sunday school.

TRINITY LUTHERAN

Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, will have Holy Week services at 7 p.m. today and Friday and at 8:30 p.m. Saturday Easter Vigil service.
