Robert Haefner
Robert J. Haefner, 95, of Cranberry Township, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2026, in the comfort of his home with loving family and loyal pet companion, Baby, at his side.
Born Nov. 21, 1930, in Wexford, Robert was the son of the late Bernard A. Haefner and Clara Pegher Haefner.
Robert served in the Army at Fort Leonard Wood, achieving the rank of sergeant.
Robert was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Cranberry Township. Gardening was his passion, as well as playing cards with friends and family. He was a good sport, enjoyed joking around and telling tales. He was a man of many talents and could do just about anything for anyone. He very much enjoyed and loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as much as they loved him.
He leaves behind, to cherish his memory, his stepchildren, Bonnie L. Fuller, of Kane, Pa., Laura L. Crosby, of Evans City, and Kenneth L. and Roxane Crosby, of North Apollo; and daughters, Carolyn Smith, of Zelienople, and Kimberly (David) Mick, of Ravenna, Ohio.
Grandchildren include Peter (Wendy) Fuller, Michele (Mitchell) Timblin, Amber Fox, Faith (Tom) Atwood, Melinda (Leroy) Bricker, Brian Crosby, Michael Crosby, Annie Crosby, Jason (Jasmine) Menzl, Erin Korbel, Matthew Hartzell, Ryan Hartzell, Ashley Purvis, Heather Dellen, Amber Durban and Autumn Huntington.
Great-grandchildren include Jacob Roccabruna, Evan Roccabruna, Jack Bricker, Samuel Atwood, Grace Atwood, Aaron Timblin, Hannah Menzl, Natalie Menzl, Draedan Brewer, Tyler Savage, Conner Savage, Sierra (Nick) Huff, Chance Evans, Jesse Durban, Nolan Huntington, Landon Huntington, Sophia Huntington, Breanna Hartzell, Brandon Hartzell, Mason Purvis and Kyle Purvis; and one great-great-grandchild, Daniel Matthew Huff.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 51 years, Hazel Haefner, whom he married on May 26, 1973; his brothers, Regis Haefner, of New Sewickley Township, Paul Haefner, of Mars, Charles (Audrey) Haefner, of Mars; and sisters, Rita (Herb) Modrack, of New Sewickley Township, Marion (Karl) Kushnereit, of Cranberry Township, Jean (Larry) Schwartz, of Sewickley, and Helen Rinaman, of Wexford; sons, Robert Haefner Jr. and Earl Haefner; and grandson, Paul Fuller, of Kane, Pa.
HAEFNER — Robert J. Haefner, who died Tuesday, May 12, 2026, will be laid to rest alongside his wife, Hazel, at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, in Bridgeville, with a private family service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Bob and Hazel’s favorite charity in their honor to The Salvation Army.
