SLIPPERY ROCK — Former Slippery Rock University men's soccer student-athlete Todd Olsen has been named to the Capital One Academic All-America Hall of Fame Silver Anniversary Class of 2012.
Olsen will become the first PSAC member and just the sixth from a Pennsylvania college and third non-Division I student-athlete honored.
Olsen was a second-team at-large selection in 1984-85.
Olsen graduated summa cum laude in 1985 as a health and physical education major. He has earned two master's degrees and a Ph.D.
Olsen has coached at Elderton High School, his alma mater and as an assistant coach at Pitt-Johnstown before becoming its head coach.
After three years as head coach, Olsen accepted his current assignment as head women's coach at Lynchburg (Va.) College.
The Hornets have posted 17 winning seasons and made the NCAA Division III tournament 12 of the past 15 seasons. In 18 seasons, Olsen has amassed a 294-7-36 record.
WASHINGTON — Madison Rotto, a sophomore on the Washington & Jefferson College softball team, has been selected to the Presidents' Athletic Conference second-team list.
GROVE CITY — Grove City College freshman shortstop Kelsey Shirey was named to the PAC first-team for women's softball while teammate Sarah Morris, a freshman catcher from Hampton High School, was chosen to the honorable mention team.
