Knoch tennis wins

Knights move on to PIAA 2A quarterfinals

The Knoch girls tennis team is one step closer to a PIAA Class AA championship.

The Knights rolled to a 5-0 sweep of Bedford Tuesday in Altoona to advance to the quarterfinals against Wyomissing at the Hershey Racquet Club at 2 p.m. Friday.

Laura Greb got things started for Knoch with a 6-2, 6-2 win.

Brooke Bauer dominated at the No. 2 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep and Emma West closed out the singles sweep for the Knights with a 7-6, 6-2 victory.

The Knoch doubles teams also cruised.

Libby Conlon and Emily Cignanik earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles and the No. 2 tandem of Alex Jaksec and Christine Cignanik rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 blanking.

Volleyball

Hannah Atzeni had 13 assists and five aces as Union swept Rocky Grove 25-7, 25-15, 25-10.

Frankee Remmick led the way at the net with seven kills for the Damsels.
