Scouts and officials raise flags for America250

The Moraine Trails Council of Scouting America will participate in Lite to Unite at 9.a.m. Saturday, May 9, at the Butler County Courthouse, joining the rest of Pennsylvania in celebrating America’s 250th birthday.

Across the state, Scouts and other volunteers will raise flags in honor of the milestone.

The group will have photos from the event available for viewing on Facebook after May 15.

The Pennsylvania Sheriffs’ Association is also participating in raising the Stars and Stripes on Saturday. Three flags will be raised at each of the 67 county courthouses in the state. The flags will then be delivered to Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and Pittsburgh for parades and ceremonies.

In a news release, Butler County Sheriff Mike Slupe said U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, R-16th, state Rep. Marci Mustello, R-11th, and Butler County Commissioners Leslie Osche and Kim Geyer will attend the event.
