Forward Township sets plans for America250 celebration
Forward Township has a unique connection to America’s colonial past. It’s the location where George Washington was nearly shot and killed by his Native American traveling companion while on an expedition through the colonies in 1753.
In the lead-up to the country’s semiquincentennial, the township is acknowledging that history with its America250 Celebration Sunday, May 17 at the Glen Eden Barn on Dufford Road.
The celebration starts at 2 p.m. It features a variety of entertainment, including musical performances from the Circle of Friends Choir, historical re-enactments and discussions of the historic event from the Evans City Historical Society and the Washington’s Trail 1753 group.
