Kaclik scores 5 TDs in GCC victory
Mars graduate and Grove City College running back Shane Kaclik continued his stellar senior season with 121 yards on 31 carries and five touchdowns on Saturday afternoon to lead the Wolverines to a 44-40 win over Bethany College.
Kaclik scored on runs of 3 and 41 and three more from the 1. His last short TD run capped the scoring with 5:14 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Grove City (2-2, 1-1) scored 20 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to pull out the win, its eighth straight at home against the Bison.
Bethany (0-3, 0-1) led 40-24 after Matt Grimard found Ed Holmes on a 19-yard scoring pass late in the third quarter.
But the Wolverines scored three straight TDs in the fourth.
Kaclik got it going with a 1-yard run, then Brian Pell scored on his own 1-yard plunge with 9:22 remaining in the game.
The five touchdowns are a career high for Kaclik, who now has rushed for 500 yards and 10 touchdowns this season.
Shelby Ward scored on a breakaway late in the second half to lead Slippery Rock University to a 3-2 win over Clarion University.The Rock (5-1, 3-1) led 2-0 before Clarion rallied to tie the score at 2-2 late in the match.Ward's goal came with 52 seconds remaining in regulation.
Shelby Orbitts had a big weekend as Slippery Rock University went 3-0 in PSAC crossover action.The Rock (10-4) beat Cheney in straight sets twice and also swept Kutztown.Orbitts had 11 kills in the wins over Cheney and Kutztown.
Allison Shade scored two goals to lead Slippery Rock (5-3, 2-1) to a 5-1 win over Seton Hill.
