Helen Smith Davison
Helen L. Smith Davison, 80, of Gibsonia passed away Saturday.
Born June 23, 1928, in Huntingdon, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Hazel (Nolder) Smith.
Helen was a home economics and English teacher at Shaler High School for 20-plus years. After her retirement, she volunteered with the First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown, the Northern Tier Library and the Lighthouse Foundation.
Helen was an accomplished pilot. She was involved in several cross-country races, winning in 1978. She was a past Eastern Section Governor of the 99's, a women's pilot association. She is a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.
She and her husband loved to travel, having flown their airplane to all lower 48 states, Alaska, the Dominican Republic, Grand Cayman Islands and the Bahamas. In addition, they traveled to Hawaii, New Zealand, Australia, Europe, and Scotland.
Helen was active in local theater and the League of Women Voters in Massachusetts.
She was the beloved wife of Ellison L. Davison, who she married June 24, 1950, and who survives; and loving mother of Lynn E. (Laura) Davison of Saline, Mich., and Dr. Mark E. (Candace) Davison of Port Matilda. Also surviving are three dear grandchildren, Kyle, Kevin, and Jennifer Davison.
<B>DAVISON</B> — The family of Helen L. Smith Davison, who died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, will welcome friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the <B>Schellhaas Funeral Home</B>, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Daniel Muttart and the Rev. Dr. Richard A. Morledge, co-officiating.
