James M. Reader

James M. Reader, 94, died Saturday at the Passavant Retirement Community, Zelienople, where he made his home.

Born May 21, 1916, in New Sewickley Township, Beaver County, he was the son of James M. Reader and Anne E. (Brown) Reader.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Aviation Engineers as a staff sergeant.

Mr. Reader retired from the Hydril Co., Rochester, as plant manager in 1981 after 43 years of service.

He was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in New Brighton and was currently a member of Calvin Presbyterian Church in Zelienople.

Mr. Reader was a graduate of Rochester High School and the Carnegie Institute of Technology.

He was a member of Union Lodge 259 F&AM in New Brighton and a former member of the Beaver Valley Retired Men's Club.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Janet (Radtke) Reader; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Reader of Zelienople; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Cathryn Reader of New Brighton; five grandchildren; three great-grandsons; a sister-in-law, Mary Reader of Sewickley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, James M. Reader Jr. of Zelienople; brothers, Bill, Harold, Don, Paul and Bob Reader; and sisters, Ruth Bernhardt, Ann Ziegler and Mildred Gealy.

<B>READER</B> Friends of James M. Reader, who died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at <B>Boylan Funeral Home</B>, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
