Two Knoch High School seniors will be awarded the rank of Eagle Scout March 13 at a court of honor ceremony at the Glade Run Presbyterian Church, Valencia.
Nathaniel Beckstead, 18, of Troop 58, Cooperstown, earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He is the son of Jeffrey and Diane Beckstead of Valencia.
Nathaniel constructed a pathway for the Boaz House, a charity providing free clothes and food to those in need.
Nathaniel has earned 25 badges during his scouting career. He has served as patrol leader and senior patrol leader for his troop, and he is a member of the order of the arrow.
Nathaniel participated in the Northern Tier Adventure Program, paddling a canoe more than 85 miles throughout a one-week span.
Nathaniel is a senior at Knoch High School. He plans to attend Rochester Institute of Technology in the fall, majoring in computer security.
Stephen Anthony, 18, of Troop 58 of the Moraine Trails Council earned his Eagle Scout badge.
He is the son of Kenneth and Deborah Kutsch of Saxonburg and Ray Anthony of Fawn Township.
Stephen spent nearly 18 months planning, designing and overseeing the construction of a granite veteran’s memorial in Roebling Park.
“It was a long road, full of twists and turns, but I was passionate about the project and determined to see it through,” Stephen said. “I could have never done it without the help and cooperation of many people in our community.”
Stephen has earned 29 badges through scouting and has regularly attended summer camps throughout the area.
He also spent 10 days in Boundary Waters of northern Minnesota while participating in a wilderness canoe trip with the Northern Tier Adventure Program.
Stephen is a senior at Knoch High School. He plans to attend Butler County Community College, hoping to transfer to Slippery Rock to study parks and resource management.
